Hard to believe it has been seven years since this installation! One of the most fulfilling public projects I’ve ever been a part of. If you didn’t get to see when it was up, take a look at all the photos on the original post!
These two pieces are favorites right now. They look even better in person! If you came to the local show, you already had a chance to see them then, but for everyone else this is your first look at them. Lots of layers, impressions, stamping, and rich autumn colors. I chose a set of simple, unvarnished, natural wood frames for them. I think they compliment them without distracting from them. Enjoy!
I’ve pointed out before that Stan and I love the look and feel of the Art Deco period. We collect many things from the period and it influences many things about our house and the furnishings. One day I got it into my head that I wanted to create an Art Deco inspired piece for our family room. I knew I wanted it to be geometric, to be somewhat reflective, and I knew I also wanted to use acrylic skins for parts of it. After working on it for over a year off and on it is finally done. I’m calling this painting “Building Veiled Geometry.” Continue reading “#ArtDeco Inspired #Geometric #Acrylic #Painting”
Leaves often remind me of glass beads. I’ve always loved the way light filters through glass. When the light is fullest I love to look up through the canopy and watch the light dance through the leaves. Those two thoughts fused to create these two landscapes. I’m going to call them Light Dance 1 & 2.
I’ve almost finished working on the folding screen with crystalline paper inserts. We found the screen at a yard sale for next to nothing and I thought I could do something interesting for the inserts. I made some crystalline papers for other projects and decided I’d give them a try for the screen. The result is stunning. Even in fairly low light the colors come through. Below are two of the inserts. Each one is different and has a personality all its own. Continue reading “More #Art-Folding Screen With Vivid #CrystallinePaper Inserts”
