I’ve pointed out before that Stan and I love the look and feel of the Art Deco period. We collect many things from the period and it influences many things about our house and the furnishings. One day I got it into my head that I wanted to create an Art Deco inspired piece for our family room. I knew I wanted it to be geometric, to be somewhat reflective, and I knew I also wanted to use acrylic skins for parts of it. After working on it for over a year off and on it is finally done. I’ve almost finished working on the folding screen with crystalline paper inserts. We found the screen at a yard sale for next to nothing and I thought I could do something interesting for the inserts. I made some crystalline papers for other projects and decided I’d give them a try for the screen. The result is stunning. Even in fairly low light the colors come through.
