Move Over Monday #Monoprints

img200

These free form monoprints are more developed than many of my monoprints. They are typically much more abstract. I’ve gone back and added watercolor, acrylic paint, and oil pastel to enhance form, composition, and color many times, so the original prints aren’t seen, except in the background here and there. Save The Date #Craft #Fair Nov 19th 2017

DSC03636

The Farmington Woman’s Club Craft and Pie Fair will be at Henry Wilson Memorial School, Farmington, NH on Sunday, November 19th this year. This is this their sixth year!

Approximately 50 vendors will be offering handmade products, in addition to crafts they will have a variety of homemade holiday pies for sale. They will have numerous items at their raffle table, a gift wrapping station.  Proceeds will benefit their Community Service and Scholarship Fund. The event starts at 9am, and from experience I know if you want one of the delicious pies, and believe me you do, you need to come early in the day!

I’m always impressed with their fair and how many people it brings to Farmington. I’ll have a double booth this time. I’ll be selling some of the Happiness Tree Decor items; trees, topiaries, baskets, and cornucopia for fall I’ll also have some of my holiday wreathes & swags. Most of the space will be for my paintings, collage work, monoprints, and some of my photography. Please come down that day and support local artists and craftspeople.

#ArtDeco Inspired #Geometric #Acrylic #Painting

I’ve pointed out before that Stan and I love the look and feel of the Art Deco period. We collect many things from the period and it influences many things about our house and the furnishings. One day I got it into my head that I wanted to create an Art Deco inspired piece for our family room. I knew I wanted it to be geometric, to be somewhat reflective, and I knew I also wanted to use acrylic skins for parts of it. After working on it for over a year off and on it is finally done. I’m calling this painting “Building Veiled Geometry.” Continue reading “#ArtDeco Inspired #Geometric #Acrylic #Painting”

More Marvelous #MonoPrints

These are loose, abstract, free form monoprints that as I looked them I saw more developed potential and worked them into a more complex composition. I have gone back and added watercolor, acrylic paint, and oil pastel to enhance form, composition, and color. Continue reading “More Marvelous #MonoPrints”

Two #Winter #MixedMedia Paintings

These both are mixed media pieces that I was inspired to do after our recent snow fall. They both have a mix of acrylic, watercolor, and iridescent pencil. Continue reading “Two #Winter #MixedMedia Paintings”

Home #Holiday #Decorating #Photos

The holidays are a special time for me. I’m very busy doing all kinds of projects during this time and it could be easy to get overwhelmed. Even with that being true, we always make time for visiting with friends and having them over to celebrate the holidays of the season. Decorating the house isn’t just for the adding of a festive backdrop for the get together, it is a tie to the many past holiday seasons and the people who were and are in our lives now. It is an exemplification of our chosen family and shared histories we have. It is also a great way to reflect on those we loved that aren’t with us any longer. I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season! Continue reading “Home #Holiday #Decorating #Photos”

Give the Gift of Happiness Trees, Baskets, or Topiaries

Happiness Trees are handmade wax floral arrangements which can be used for almost any occasion. From weddings, to centerpieces for the holidays, there is not an event for which these arrangements cannot be tailored. Miniature wax fruit floral arrangement is a non mechanized process in which handmade, modeling clay dough, is low-fired and the resulting fruit is wax dipped by hand, then arranged and combined with other materials to form a truly unusual form of floral art. This beautiful tradition was passed down from my grandmother to me. They are somewhat fragile, especially during handling, but can last for decades. Four Recently Completed #MixedMedia #Paintings

We love the Marx Brothers and Groucho is Stan’s favorite of the bunch. This painting is modeled after a book cover. I played up the art deco elements, because we so love that style. I imagine at some point I’ll make one of Harpo. I just think he is grand!
