Looking At Past #FarmingtonNH Independence Days

screenshot-farmingtonnhhistory.omeka.net-2019.07.04-14-54-10Have you wondered what Independence Day was like in the 1890’s? How about the 1930’s? What about the 1960’s. Well at the Farmington NH Historical Society I can’t transport you back to each of those times, but I can let you peek at what was being said about Independence Day in our own local paper, the Farmington News, in those decades.

I’ve pulled three pages from the Farmington News and put them in the Museum of Farmington NH History. One from Thursday, July 9th, 1964, one from Friday, July 4th, 1930, and finally an issue from Friday, June 26th, 1896. Each talks about Independence Day, specifically, how we observed it, or planned to celebrate, each of those years.screenshot-farmingtonnhhistory.omeka.net-2019.07.04-14-54-57
