Expressions of #Fall Through #Glass – #Acrylic #Painting

Fall never ceases to amaze me. So much about this time and the beginning of renewal for nature connects with me. This is a piece I’ve been working on for quite some time. It is an20181005_163353 acrylic, acrylic skin, gel medium, glass bead gel, fluid acrylic layers, on canvas. This won’t stay in this space, in fact in many ways it is a test for the piece I want to make for this area. I love the way the shapes move into each other, a stained glass puzzle that won’t stay still. .I love the geometric form and the fall colors and the mix of textures, but the piece I want to build for this spot will need to pull a bit more from the Art Deco period. Much like this piece. I’ll need to make at least three more acrylic skin sheets in order to do that. I love making them so that isn’t such a tall order.

Mystical #Myth #Monoprint #Horses

These were so much fun for me to do! The two pieces are a continuation of the mystical creatures series I started last year.  It started with a seadragon monoprint and then a mystical seahorse monoprint. Now a unicorn and a winged horse. I still want to paint a griffin, but I’ve also thought about adding the Sphinx, Cerberus, and a hydra to the collection. So many choices!

Flaming Fire Red Rose #Garden #Paintings

This is a set that is best viewed in person. Photos just don’t do them justice. It was inspired by footage of the wildfires in California this year, specifically a garden with roses on fire. Not something I’d want to happen to anyone, but it was a great inspiration for these paintings. I began with a textured surface and then a metallic base background in silver. Then I used acrylic and ink, in red, yellow, and orange layers, to build the roses and flames.

Mid #Summer #MonoPrints

This set of monoprints started out in acrylic, printmaking ink, or iridescent watercolor. I added ink, pastels, and additional watercolors to them to flesh them out. Visit the other monoprinting tabs to see more. Hope you enjoy the gallery below! Continue reading “Mid #Summer #MonoPrints”

Padrick Bentley-Beautiful, Jarring Glitch Art

The other day I was surfing online and I came across the artist Padrick Bentley. I was looking through his more traditional contemporary paintings, if you can call them traditional at all, and loved his bold use of color and vivid movement and texture in his pieces. Then I came across his”glitch art” and was even more impressed. Take a look!
