It’s that time of year again! I’m chosing to put up my plant and flower photos for the garden this year in two parts. This first part covers the beginning of the growing season, to about mid July, and all the wondrous flower fireworks your heart could take in for that period.
Watering wasn’t difficult this year because we had so much rain. The water cisterns were constantly full! Temps have been mild all of May, June July, and August, while the rest of you sweltered.
Unfortunately, because of all the rain, I lost all my Dalhias, including all my dinner-plate varieties. Some of those I had for ten years and the clumps were only getting bigger! I already had them in the ground when the constant rains started and I believe they simply rotted in the ground.
We did have a moth that was going after my large ferns this year, but pretty much all other pests were not problems at all. Bees and other pollinators were up again, as were the number of birds nesting and having broods in the yard.
Click on any photo to bring up the larger, complete version. Part two coming soon!
