#ArtDeco Inspired #Geometric #Acrylic #Painting

I’ve pointed out before that Stan and I love the look and feel of the Art Deco period. We collect many things from the period and it influences many things about our house and the furnishings. One day I got it into my head that I wanted to create an Art Deco inspired piece for our family room. I knew I wanted it to be geometric, to be somewhat reflective, and I knew I also wanted to use acrylic skins for parts of it. After working on it for over a year off and on it is finally done. I’m calling this painting “Building Veiled Geometry.” Continue reading “#ArtDeco Inspired #Geometric #Acrylic #Painting”

Two Wild #Acrylic #Nature #Paintings

It is feeling like spring here in NH, though we are actually in the middle of winter. Temps are creeping up during the day to fifty or sixty degrees in most places. A false spring. These two landscape paintings have been sitting around for a bit with the under painting work done. I really wasn’t sure where I wanted to go to finalize them. One is a little more clear as I see it being later in the day and the hazy version I imagine in early morning with lifting fog. I’m going to call these False Spring Morning & False Spring Afternoon.

Two Vivid #Landscape #Paintings

Leaves often remind me of glass beads. I’ve always loved the way light filters through glass. When the light is fullest I love to look up through the canopy and watch the light dance through the leaves. Those two thoughts fused to create these two landscapes. I’m going to call them Light Dance 1 & 2.

#MixedMedia Tribute #Portrait #WaterColor & Acrylic

This one is a test subject. I want to get back into doing some portraiture. I haven’t done any portraits since I was in school, so my skills for capturing human subtlety is somewhat atrophied. I wanted to start with someone I liked, but who was not a personal favorite of mine or a direct inspiration for me. I certainly didn’t want to do someone I knew well. I had created this watercolor background around the time of David Bowie’s death and it reminded me of Bowie.

It makes me think of a nebula. Vast. Alien. Enigmatic. Continue reading “#MixedMedia Tribute #Portrait #WaterColor & Acrylic”

Completed #Paintings From The End Of 2015

P1020778

I finished all of these at the end 2015. I put them on Facebook, but didn’t put them on the site or through Twitter. All are acrylic paintings, but the red abstracts and the leaf collage incorporate mixed media elements as well.   Continue reading “Completed #Paintings From The End Of 2015”
