Below you can see Pat’s intro for me and information about the event:
Getting the house ready for the winter holidays brings much excitement for me each year. Though much of the house stays the same in the way I decorate it, it is never exactly the same. Down below you will find several things that are different from previous years. I’ve included a photo of the two of us the first time we decorated the house together and a photo of the new hall radiator cover that Stan made for me. You will also see some new antique furniture additions. We are retiring some of my old furniture, from before we were a couple, to be used for storage in the basement and that has allowed us to find new pieces for the house. We’ve also finished some more of the small projects we are doing so you might see changes in the house in that way as well. Happy holidays everyone!
The Farmington holiday tree lighting ceremony will be Friday, December 1st this year. The festivities are from 6:30 – 8pm and are located on Central Street. The Farmington Recreation Department will have hot chocolate and treats. There will be music performed by Farmington’s own Henry Wilson School and of course a special visit from Santa. The DeJulio family has planned to have a memorial table for residents to stop and share stories of Tom DeJulio. There is also a Santa meet & greet, Friday, December 15th, 6-7pm at the Farmington Recreation Department.
The holidays are a special time for me. I’m very busy doing all kinds of projects during this time and it could be easy to get overwhelmed. Even with that being true, we always make time for visiting with friends and having them over to celebrate the holidays of the season. Decorating the house isn’t just for the adding of a festive backdrop for the get together, it is a tie to the many past holiday seasons and the people who were and are in our lives now. It is an exemplification of our chosen family and shared histories we have. It is also a great way to reflect on those we loved that aren’t with us any longer. I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season! Continue reading “Home #Holiday #Decorating #Photos”
