Move Over Monday #Monoprints

img200

These free form monoprints are more developed than many of my monoprints. They are typically much more abstract. I’ve gone back and added watercolor, acrylic paint, and oil pastel to enhance form, composition, and color many times, so the original prints aren’t seen, except in the background here and there. Continue reading “Move Over Monday #Monoprints”

Mid #Summer #MonoPrints

This set of monoprints started out in acrylic, printmaking ink, or iridescent watercolor. I added ink, pastels, and additional watercolors to them to flesh them out. Visit the other monoprinting tabs to see more. Hope you enjoy the gallery below! Continue reading “Mid #Summer #MonoPrints”

More Marvelous #MonoPrints

These are loose, abstract, free form monoprints that as I looked them I saw more developed potential and worked them into a more complex composition. I have gone back and added watercolor, acrylic paint, and oil pastel to enhance form, composition, and color. Continue reading “More Marvelous #MonoPrints”

#MixedMedia Sea Dragon in #Ink #Watercolor & #Acrylic

This fanciful sea dragon was done on card stock. It started out as a printmaking ink mono print, but as soon as I did the initial impression I saw the sea dragon and I knew I wanted to do the rest in watercolor and acrylic. It’s light and feels like summer to me; a great counter point to this time of year in New England. She’s just magical. One of my new favorites.

#MixedMedia Tribute #Portrait #WaterColor & Acrylic

This one is a test subject. I want to get back into doing some portraiture. I haven’t done any portraits since I was in school, so my skills for capturing human subtlety is somewhat atrophied. I wanted to start with someone I liked, but who was not a personal favorite of mine or a direct inspiration for me. I certainly didn’t want to do someone I knew well. I had created this watercolor background around the time of David Bowie’s death and it reminded me of Bowie.

It makes me think of a nebula. Vast. Alien. Enigmatic. Continue reading “#MixedMedia Tribute #Portrait #WaterColor & Acrylic”

Two #Winter #MixedMedia Paintings

These both are mixed media pieces that I was inspired to do after our recent snow fall. They both have a mix of acrylic, watercolor, and iridescent pencil. Continue reading “Two #Winter #MixedMedia Paintings”

More #Art-Folding Screen With Vivid #CrystallinePaper Inserts

p1040097

I’ve almost finished working on the folding screen with crystalline paper inserts. We found the screen at a yard sale for next to nothing and I thought I could do something interesting for the inserts. I made some crystalline papers for other projects and decided I’d give them a try for the screen. The result is stunning. Even in fairly low light the colors come through. Below are two of the inserts. Each one is different and has a personality all its own. Continue reading “More #Art-Folding Screen With Vivid #CrystallinePaper Inserts”

#Watercolor & #Pastel Play

img030

I love watercolor. I’ve mentioned before that it is hard for me to find whimsy and to construct free form and like monoprinting, watercolor takes the hard work out of that process. Most of my watercolors start out very free form and I add structure with ink, pastels, or chalk. I’m just starting to venture into watercolor again, but so far I’m very happy using them.

Seven More #MixedMedia #Collage #Art Pieces

P1020908

These are all mixed media collages. Most have a mix of acrylic, watercolor, and various papers that make up the final piece. The platters and the bowl were items that were hideous in their natural commercial forms and had outlived usefulness, but I decided to  give them new lives as art. Each of these took some time as I made some of the papers that would become part of the pieces for the collage. Continue reading “Seven More #MixedMedia #Collage #Art Pieces”
