I’ve almost finished working on the folding screen with crystalline paper inserts. We found the screen at a yard sale for next to nothing and I thought I could do something interesting for the inserts. I made some crystalline papers for other projects and decided I’d give them a try for the screen. The result is stunning. Even in fairly low light the colors come through. These are all mixed media collages. Most have a mix of acrylic, watercolor, and various papers that make up the final piece. The platters and the bowl were items that were hideous in their natural commercial forms and had outlived usefulness, but I decided to give them new lives as art. We love the Marx Brothers and Groucho is Stan’s favorite of the bunch. This painting is modeled after a book cover. I played up the art deco elements, because we so love that style. I imagine at some point I’ll make one of Harpo. I just think he is grand!
